Melvenia Hylton, or as we know her, Mel, was born in Halifax, Virginia. She moved to Connecticut in the late 1960’s to better herself and to seek out success. After many years of working in the Beauty Supply Industry, she decided it was time to step outside of the box and follow her dream. In 1995 she established Connecticut’s “original” Beauty Plus, seeking her passion for beauty and entrepreneurship.
Though many copies have come and gone, Miss Mel remains true to herself and her community.
